Your computer must be turned on in order to
run a scan.

If your computer is not turned on it can't do anything. That means it
won't scan, won't update, won't do ANYTHING - it's the same as turning
your Lights off - they don't do anything unless you turn them on.

Speaking of which, I keep seeing reference to the malicious spyware or
adware removal tools.. can't think of exact name.. but every now and then it
downloads an update for it.. problem is, I can't find any mention of it
anywhere in my windows xp, or any program links.. how the heck do I RUN it?

Thanks!

That's illuminating <g>!

Burn a CD with MSAS on it. Get a gerbil and a wire wheel for the gerbil
to run in. Glue the CD to the wheel.

Next, place gerbil in the wheel and enclose the opposite side from the
CD of the wheel with one of the clear plastic pieces that comes with
blank CDR stacks.

Finally, open up an alarm radio, and cut the wires from the speaker and
attach to the wire wheel stand. Set the alarm to go off at 2 am and to
the volume as high as possible, and set the whole thing, wire wheel
w/gerbil and the alarm radio, on top of your computer. At 2 am, MSAS
with be running on you computer, with your computer turned off. HTH!

As flawed a plan as you normally pose in these groups:

In your flawed example, MSAS is NOT RUNNING, the gerbil is RUNNING on
the computer, the CD is spinning/rotating, not running.

Additionally, connecting both wires to the same electrical conductor
would cause a "short" which would not do anything to activate/entice the
gerbil to do anything other than what it was currently doing. At best,
the output from the wires would cause a transistor to fail, still not
having any real impact on the gerbil.

God damn. The LameGirl has to over-ANALyze a joke!

But you are the gerbil expert in this group, so you would know best!
Poor gerbils!

Hey, you're the one that posted a BS reply that was completely off-topic
to the posters question (which seems to be the norm for you) - I just
corrected your BS information.

Yeah, I'm sure a kick in the butt is something you enjoy on a regular
basis!

And what was the funny part of your reply? "BS information?"

I sincerely hope that this is NOT a serious question on your part. If it is,
I fell extremely sorry about your tremendous lack of knowledge and common
sense.

You can run anything you want at 2 am. This is a free country after all.

Brilliant answer there! Damn, I knew these MVPs were smart and your
excellent answer proves it.

Now, here's an even tougher question ... Can I burn a DVD in the middle of
the night when my computer is turned off?
