Hi
can anyone help with this problem which concerns running an executable file
in Windows XP.

I write database software and one of the development systems I use is Visual
Dbase.

I have to do some modifications for a client to a program which I wrote some
years ago and I have just installed the Dbase software on a new computer
which runs XP.

When I try to run the program I get a windows message saying

"Visual dBase Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience."

It invites me to send the error report which I have done but I get the
impression that this is for their information rather than to directly help
me.

There are probably any number of causes for the problem but I am posting
this in the hope that someone will have some useful information because so
far I have not been able to get around this difficulty.

Many Thanks

Tony Roake

I tried this - "running in compatability mode" and found that the message now
reported was "Insuffcient Shared Memory".

In my case the dBase program is a compiled application which is still
running fine on older windows systems (95 & 98).
