Running DOS programs under WinXP, keyboard not working in full screen

I have a very strange problem running a couple of DOS programs on WinXP.
Both programs behave the same way. If I run either program in a window
all appears normal, however if I make them run full screen, neither will
respond to keyboard commands like cursors, numerics, enter, etc. With
the program running in full screen I can, however, do an "alt-esc" to
get back to the desktop or "ctrl-alt-del" to bring up the task manager.
Also num lock and scroll lock work.
Other interesting info, both work full screen on a different system
running winxp. If I just open up a command prompt full screen I can type
normally so it does not appear to be an issue with the DOS command
interpreter or whatever the equivalent is in XP, but rather with the
interaction between the DOS programs and DOS full screen.
Any ideas, suggestions? Jeff..

.

Rightclick the DOS Command prompt and click Properties.
Now click the "Layout" tab. There you can reset for
whatever size you want to appear on your screen without
the "strange" problems you are encountering.

Thanks for the suggestion Jake, I tried that and I can resize the DOS
window just fine but as soon as I start the DOS application the window
resizes back to it's original (too small) size. As I said before I can
set the properties to be full screen and it stays full screen when I
start the app but then keyboard numerics, text and cursor keys don't
respond. I wonder if this could be something to do with video drivers?
Anyone else experienced symtoms like this? Jeff..
