FULL SCREEN with DOS program

I am trying to run an old dos program in full screen, under Windows XP.

I have done a lot of research and found out to change the properties
to full screen on the icon but this doesn't help. So while the program

is running I right clicked to change the layout to 80,25 and also
changed to full screen in these properties but it still doesn't work.
(I have noticed when I go back to look to see if the full screen is
checked, it isn't, even after chosing the save options).
I even tried to ALT-ENTER to go to full screen but it is unsuccessfull.

In all instances, the screen goes blank for a second or two where it
looks like it might work, but it always goes back to windows screen.
The program works ok, the screen is too small.

I have made the changes on 2 other pc's under windows xp with no
problem. It is full screen. But this computer under Windows XP is
stubborn. There was 1 time when for about a second it went full
screen, but only for a second and that was when I was trying all
different kinds of settings. I had changed the monitor to 60 htz I
think. So I tried other settings but it still didn't work. Not even
for a second.

Any ideas?

Thanks

When you say that you've change on the icon, do you mean AS it's already
running (the icon on the DOS Window), or to you mean you've right-click on
the Windows Explorer icon of the program in the folder where it is installed
(at NOT the shortcut) from All Programs?

If not, try going to the folder where the app is installed, right click on
the icon, chose Properties and setup from there.

Actually, I tried changing to "full screen" 3 ways. Just by right
clicking the icon on the desktop (shortcut), right clicking on the
task bar while it is running, and right clicking the application in the
folder. Nothing seems to work.

I assume you are modifying the options under the Screen Tab, correct.

Did you uncheck the Restore settings at startup?

I will have to double check that. I do know that I compared "all" the
settings on the computer that it works on to the computer with the
problem and everything is the same.

Thanks for your help. I'm not one to give up, but this is driving me
crazy and I am about to give up.

Try it for over 25 years in Unix and Windows systems.
Talk about driving one crazy (especially with all the different flavors
(Solaris, BSD, Linux .... Windows 3.11, WFW, 95, 98 ME, NT, 2000 and now all
the different XPs).

Well, its working full screen now. Don't know why. I didn't make any
changes. Just starting working. Hope it stays that way.

Had a similar problem under XP. The way I cured it was to run the app in a
window. Right click on the bar at the top of the window and set the
properties there. These seemed to 'stick' unlike doing it from the short
cut.

After thinking about it more, the only thing that I did different was
after rebooting the computer, I started the application before
everything else had a chance to come up on the computer. So I thought
it might be the anti-virus program. I uninstalled the anti-virus
application and hope this keeps it working properly.
