Running backups from Vista

I have a main (VISTA) and secondary PC (XP PRO) on my home network. The
secondary PC is used for non-essential work and for holding backups. When I
run Backup on Vista and map to the drive on the secondary PC, Vista insists I
enter a user and password, however, if I access the same folder using Windows
Explorer, I do not get promted for a username and password. Is there anyway I
can switch of the prompt to allow my backups to run unencumbered ?

I have switched Network security to private, I have switched off password
protection.

Hi Eric

I did all that was required, but I am unable to find out how to set my new
backup user account to be the co-owner of the share on my XP PC, as required
by the Vista PC. Can you advise please.

Thanks and regards

Hi Eric

Still no joy, I have managed to change the owner to the backup user and the
message still appears. The user I have created is "Backup", it does have full
control and is now the owner of the share I am trying to write to.

I can access the share at any time using Windows Explorer from the Vista PC.

If I cannot make this work, I will need to go and purchase an external
drive, I as I run my company finances from the Vista PC, and cannot operate
without backing up my data.

Regards

Gareth
