How to back up a Vista laptop over a wireless network dominated by

I hate to bother you, but I'm in the 300 and somethingth position at the
Library for Vista for Dummies... I would like to store my Vista laptop's
backups on one of the network XP'sI've mapped both machines to a MobileBackup
folder (Z:) on the Vista and the chosen XP. When I go to initiate the backup
on the Vista, I get hit up for a login and password. Which one does it mean?
The initial login? It's asking for info from the XP, but whrn I put in the
login & password, I get an error stating the network share could not be
accessed for the following reasons:

No mapping between account names and security IDs was done (0x80070534)

Please ensure the network location is valid.

Any words of direction?

Thank you!

1. In many cases, this issue is related to the username and password. If you do "net use \\remoteipaddress\sharedfodler, do you receive any system error?

2. It also could be security software issue. If you use clean boot, can you do the backup?

3. Microsoft hotfix may fix this issue. Check this page for the details.

The laptop's nameis MOMSMOBILE-PC, the XP is OWNER. On the laptop, I tried
the "net use \\XP's IP\MobileBackup (prefixing with "net use grayed out my
next button until I removed everything before the \\ and was allowed to
proceed. When the username & psw box came up, I put in OWNER and the XP's
password. Then it errored out as:

The network share could not be completed for the following reason:
You need full Control Permission for the network share. Make the user a
co-owner of the share with full control. - this is already in place - The
network share cannot be on a computer running Windows XP Home (0x81000002A)

Please ensure the network location is valid.

Therein, I believe lies the root of the problem; I'll keep watching for a
fix that allows Vista and XP to communicate. In the interim, I may just have
to go ahead and backup to the little bitty slice of space they call my D:
drive. I am very uncomfortable with this because if Vista acts out again and
requies another restore, it takes what's on the D: drive with it, rendering
it useless. Would it be a viable workaround to backup to D:, then move the
backup file over to the XP?

Thanks,
