Running application icon missing from task bar

Recently when I minimized the running applications the icons did not show in
the task bar so I cannot switch application. I have to go to the task
manager to reopen it again. It happened to all program IE,Works,Excel etc
etc. Any idea ?

I don't know why this would happen, but you *should* still be able to switch
between running programs with alt+tab.
