when trying to access add/remove programs, display, time... pretty much any
control panel item, I recieve an error stating:

rundll32.exe the specified path does not exist.

I checked to see if i had the file, and it is there.
I tried to replace the file with the original from CD... didn't help.
I ran SFC to make sure there were no corruptions... none found.
I ran mcafee, found viruses, cleaned/deleted them... still had problem.
I ran ad-aware, deleted all items found... didn't help.

I have a feeling it's a registry thing... but I'm not sure which key to look
for...

I found other websites/forums regarding this same problem, but the did not
supply a solution... merely others concurring with this error.

Also, for some reason, I cannot access microsoft.com, mcafee.com, and
prudential.com... this is bad because I cannot update windows nor update
mcafee. I checked the HOSTS file and internet security settings, all seem to
be fine.

I am really running out of Ideas... can someone PLEASE HELP ME!

Scan the system for spyware using these tools:

Ad-Aware SE : http://www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D : http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder : http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

Chuck, thank you for your reply...

As I stated in my original post... I ran adaware and fixed/deleted all
reported issues...

This problem still persists...

Any advice?

Probably because you removed the file of malware, but not the startup
line that invokes rundll32 to run it. Start - Run - MSConfig.exe and
look on the Startup page for any line having rundll32 in the Command
column (you may need to move the separator in the title bar right to
give space). Uncheck it
