rundll32.exe & p2p networking

When my computer starts up there are two programs which
start and are interfearing with deleting programs. One is
rundll32.exe (c:\windows\system32\bridge.dll) and the
other is p2p networking ((c:\windows\system32
\p2pnetworking\p2pnetworking.exe

What are these programs? Do I need them and if I do, do
they need to start when I turn my computer on. Can I
delete them from the start up menu?

Hi, David. P2P is for file-sharing, similar to Kazaa or Limewire. Since
you seem not to know about this, I'm assuming you have a teenager or
someone else in your household who installed it since it isn't
something that can happen all by itself. The Bridge.dll comes from
spyware. What is happening is that your computer has a spyware
infestation at the very least. Depending on your antivirus protection,
you may also have a virus. Here's how to clean things up:

1) scan with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier
than 2002 but using updated virus definitions); 2) remove spyware with
Spybot Search & Destroy (www.safer-networking.org) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). These programs are free, so use them both since
they complement each other. Be sure to update these programs before
running, and it is a good idea to do virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode.
After you've gotten rid of spyware and any viruses, continue with your
cleanup by 3) deleting temporary and Temporary Internet Files; 4)
stopping unnecessary services/programs from starting with Windows - see
www.blackviper.com for services info and www.pacs-portal.co.uk
startup_index.htm for programs info.

If you need more help after you've done your cleanup, then please
repost. Please be sure to tell us what you've already done.

Cheers,

Malke

Lisa, that's fine but make a new post with the appropriate subject.
Otherwise, the original thread is lost.
