After a few problems and a bit of tinkering I managed to mess up my PC. I
cannot re-load Internet Explorer 7 (Beta) as I keep getting a message that
it is already loaded (yet I cannot un-install it). IE6 will not run so I
have downloaded Mozilla Firefox (sorry).

When I start the PC I get the 'thunk' sound and a message saying:

RUNDLL
Error Loading C:\Windows\System32\msfeeds.dll
The specified procedure could not be found

Any suggestions please

What problems?
What tinkering?

You may have backed yourself into a corner here, as you were messing with a
beta product that, while relatively stable, is not a production-ready
product yet. A repair installation may be required depending on how badly
you damaged your system.

Thanks Sandy58. I have looked in updspapi.log but cannot find any "access
denied" entries.
Hi John,
Try system Restore and Restore to a date earlier than when you messed up ith
your system.
If no luck Back Up your Data and Reinstall your System.

Hi John,
I googled for this I found this hope will help;
This happened becuase the permissions on a registry key has been changed.
On install we archive all the keys which involves both reading and writing to
the keys. Some application has changed the permissions on the .tif and .tiff
registry keys to not allow administrator full control over the key. What we
need to do is change the premissions to allow the administrator to right and
archive the key.

This is the workaround, it invloves changing registry keys so do this at
your own risk.

1. Go to Start then "Run" type "regedit" in the run box and enter.
2. In regedit expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in the left pane and the scroll down
to the entry ".tif"
3. Right click on the entry in the left pane, select "permissions..."
4. In the permissions box select the "administrators" group.
5. Click on the "Advanced" button at the lower right.
6. Select administrators and click edit.
7. In the next dialogue check to allow box for "full control".
8. Repeat this with the .tiff key
9. Save and close.
10. Install IE7
If no joy try run sfc.exe in the RUN Command and it will replace it
hopefully for you.
Good luck

Thanks Nass. I had tried it yesterday (thanks to Google) I have been through
it again and I still get the clunk and the error message so Firefox remains.
Any other ideas? Should I see anythig when I run sfc.exe? I just see a quick
black window flash up.

Try to go to Control Panel and Select Ad/Remove and select Show Updates and
uninstall IE7 all files belong to it.
Go to this link and read the article on how to uninstall IE7:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/default.aspx
Hope this help
