RUNDLL startup error message

I'm running windows XP home edition on my notebook and receive an error
message on startup:

RUNDLL:
error loading C:\windows\system32\mchftpax.dll
the specified module could not be found.

I can click the ok button to go past, but would like to find out the reason
and try to correct it if possible. Any help/suggestions are greatly
appreciated.

Thank you,
Glen

A Google Groups search showed no mention of that file, other than your
post. That suggests that some malware was removed, but the reference to
the file was not removed from the registry.

Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT, click OK. Press the Home key, press F3,
type the name of the file into the search pane. Click "Find Next", and
when located, delete the reference to the file. Press F3 to continue
the search.

You can click File, Export, and save the entry to the Desktop, attach
the file to a post in this thread; someone might note whether it's safe
to delete first. If you remove it and there's a problem, double-click
the .reg file you exported to the Desktop and it'll be added to the
registry again. You can create a restore point before editing the
registry too.

If the file is mentioned with another file such as
"C:\Windows\Explorer.exe mchftpax.dll" you'll have to edit the entry to
remove mchftpax.dll from that line. Please free to post questions on
whatever you find.

thank you for the response, I went into REGEDIT and did a search for
mchftpax.dll but nothing came up. Not sure what else to try. Any other
suggestions?

Thanks,
Glen

Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, click OK. Look in Startup tab,
System.INI tab, and Win.INI tab for any reference to the file.
