When I turn on the computer I get a message that says Error loading
C:\windows\system32\xjbeevsg.dll
The specified module could not be found

I have no idea what this is. It just started happening. I think I have
some spyware and maybe a virus, and am trying to get the computer cleaned up

Please help

You had a Trojan. It was removed but the line item loading the DLL via RUNDLL32.EXE was not
removed.

Load MSCONFIG.EXE
Go to the Starup tab
Find the line item that loads; rundll32 C:\windows\system32\xjbeevsg.dll
and disable it then reboot the PC.

If Dave's suggestion doesn't work, try this:

Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT, click OK. Press the Home key, press F3,
type the name of the file into the search pane. Click "Find Next", and
when located, delete the reference to the file. Press F3 to continue
the search.

You can click File, Export, and save the entry to the Desktop, attach
the file to a post in this thread; someone might note whether it's safe
to delete first. If you remove it and there's a problem, double-click
the .reg file you exported to the Desktop and it'll be added to the
registry again. You can create a restore point before editing the
registry too.

David,
Thanks for the advice. I did it, but now I get a message saying something
like I am in diagnostic mode, and then the system configuration utility comes
up. What now?

Did the message "Error loading C:\windows\system32\xjbeevsg.dll" go away ?

If yes, just check the box not to show the dialogue again.
