Runaway cfg.bak file

Grant

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I
have a runaway cfg.bak file in the c:\WINNT\system32
directory. My support guys cleared the file at 4+ GB, and
it has reappeared and grown almost .5 GB in 24 hours.

Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to stop it?

Thanks,
Grant

Hi, Grant.

This filename does not appear in my WinXP or in my archived copy of Win2K.
My guess is that it is not a part of Windows at all, but may be part of some
application that you installed.

Google turns up over 160 hits for "cfg.bak". The first link is to support
for a program called Unidata McIDAS-X. Does that sound familiar?

Sorry I can't help more. Let us know what you find out about this. In a
newsgroup, we all learn from each other. ;<)
