Run Repair on XP

Can someone please tell me step by step how to run the repair from the retail
xp cd, do I turn off the computer and hold down the F9 key, or the Delete
Key, or the Esc. Key? It just keeps on restarting and going to the same
$&^%% blue screen where it sits!!
