run command

is the run command in the start menu just the same as the dos command
prompt? if so does it use the normal dos commands? and is their any
special commands for it?

Run will start Windows programs.
A dos prompt will not.

Type "cmd" without the quotes in the Run box.
This will bring up a command prompt window where you can use normal dos
commands.
