Run audio and custom animation simultaneously

I'm using PowerPoint 2000. I inserted a .wav audio file and set it up in
custom animation to run as soon as the slide show is launched. The audio runs
fine, but when I try to add additional custom animation for the text boxes,
it interrupts because the custom animation has to run its objects in
sequencial order of events.

Is there any way to run these simultaneously?

In PowerPoint 2000, right-click on the .wav audio file speaker icon and
select "Custom Animation..." menu item, select "Multimedia Settings" and
select "Continue slide show" option, click OK button. Now the sound should
play when the other animation effects are going on.
