Run a DLL error

D

David

My computer was disrupted by power outs about 3 times
while I was running a game. When I booted my computer
back up I get and I keep on getting a error message
saying that Run a DLL needs to shut down and microsoft is
sorry for the inconvenience. The error says this:

*Run a DLL as a App*

Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information
you were working on might be lost.

bla bla bla...

The computer seems to run fine... my cable internet know
lags a little.

How can I fix this. Please help anything you can offer
would be great! Thanks.

Hi,

Boot the WinXP CD, load the Recovery Console.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307654

From the command prompt, run chkdsk C: /r

See if this helps. The power outages may have corrupted the file system.

OK, located my problem. The first thing I did was check
the unsigned drivers... there was no problem there. Then
I did the Test User Profiles. I created a new account
and logged in. The Error message did not come up. So I
switched back to my main account and the error message
did come up again. So the problem with the "Run a DLL as
APP" error message is isolated in my main user account
but the thing I am ignorant about now is how do I fix the
problem within my user account? I tried accessing the
Ntuser.dat file but it says "This file is being used by
another program or person". What do I do know? Thank you
for your help so far!
