Rules Wizard

Despite the fact that I keep updating my Rules Wizard with
key words to eliminate unwanted spam e-mails (I receive
over 30 a day some days), these rules never seem to apply.

Is this a useless feature of Outlook? Am I forgetting to
turn something on in the Rules Wizard so that it will
block the spam? And none of this spam is ever delivered to
the delete box or deleted off the server. What gives?

In my opinion, it is pretty much useless. To be effective you spend more
time managing rules then it would take just to delete the SPAM. I would get
a good third party SPAM manger and use it. There are several available from
free to pay versions. I use IHateSpam ($19) and find it gets about 95% of
the SPAM with almost no false positives. Search google and you'll find
dozens of programs.

Funny, mine works great! When I turn off the rules, I
average 120/day, rules on = 12-20. Some key strategies
are to edit Adult Content Senders.txt to show domains for
key offenders. Or you can get JunkURL from:
http://www.andersson-design.com/junkurl/index.shtml to
make it easier. I am a bit bold and permanently delete
mail in all but a couple less active rules.

I might have been interested in a 3rd party filter early
in the game but they use an online database and you
contacts list in the process.
