Rules & the Envelope Icon (OLK2003)

R

Richard

Is there anyway to stop the Envelope appearing in the
notification area based on a particular rule being run?

For example, I move receipts automatically to a receipts
folder using a rule. But the envelope appears in the
notification area (system tray) telling me there is new
mail. As this is a receipt, I just refer to them for
reference from time-to-time I do not want to know that it
has been received.

I do, however, want to know when mail not affected by
this rule arrives?

Try as I might, I cannot find an answer to this one. I
thought the "clear message flag" would work, but is does
not!

I just found this thread through Google. It's a couple of years old but I would like an answer to the guy's question too.

In Thunderbird when I automatically move mail to a subfolder (mailing list mail-outs, for example) and marked them as read, I didn't get an envelope in the system tray. I am now using Outlook and despite setting up rules to move the messages from the same mailing lists to subfolders, and to makr them as read, I get the envelope icon whenever a mailing list message arrives. This is quite irritating as I would like to be notified only when I receive a non-mailing list email that requires my attention.

Anyone got any ideas?
