IMAP
--------------

1) How do I make rules work on IMAP accounts - Can I write
rules so that automatically IMAP mail will be transferred
from the IMAP server to specified folders on **my** machine ?

At least can I transfer mail automatically from the IMAP folder
to my Machine's Inbox by triggering a rule ?

POP3
--------------

2) How do I delete unwanted mail FROM the POP3 server (i.e.)
how to avoid downloading and then deleting ? - OE 5 had a
facility to delete from server ...

General
-----------

3) If I wish to send a mail to a friend - but at a future date -
say his / her birthday, is is possible to automate this with a
rule ? Provided Outlook is running then

4) I wish to click on a contact and send mail to that contact.
However in the contact pane, If I click on a contact, only the
contact opens. How to change this behavior, if possible

Thanks in advance

1) Is the full message body downloaded? Rules won't run on headers only.
Otherwise, rules should work on imap - what version of Outlook do you use?
2) Outlook doesn't support delete from server - it needs the full body to
process. Use a utility like mailwasher.
3) Outlook suipports delayed send but not all servers support it and some
versions of Outlook handle it better than others. You can create a rule to
delay by xx min or use task scheduler to send at a future date.
4) Right click and choose send email or click and look on the actions menu.
You can't change the behavior of double click.

Hi

Thanks for the replies

1) Is the full message body downloaded? Rules won't run on headers
only. Otherwise, rules should work on imap - what version of
Outlook do you use?

I use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. I can't see any version number

The full body is *NOT* downloaded with IMAP

So, are there any *other* programs / outlook add ons that will
automatically download IMAP mail or download and classify IMAP mail ?

What is the IMAP equivalent of POP-file ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks

I've configured Outlook to send receive full messages and *not* just
headers. Still rules are **not** working on IMAP in-box

am I missing some steps here ?

Thanks
