rules-for this machine/other machine

I am getting duplicate rules for same email addresses-that is, when I create
a rule the same eamil comes up again in the inbox as if no rule exists for
it. And when I re-create a rule-it adds a (1) and then a (2) after the
duplicate rules it creates. It seems to have something to do with the
advanced setting "for this machine only", which I could uncheck each time I
create a rule with just three or four extra clicks in a sequence of 9 cliks
as it is! I must be doing something wrong, since this used to be easy and
work well under "organize" in veriosn prior to Outlook 2003. Any help out
there?

Why do you recreate the rule in the first place?
What does the rule do?
Are you switching between machines?
What account type are you using?

1. I always use the same machine.
2. The rules are always the same: "messages received from x always go into y
folder"
3. I never use more than one rule on a recieved message (e.g assign it to be
saved into two or more folders).
4. I am using three POP/SMTP accounts with different email addresses.
5. I connect via a router with a dynamic IP assigned on the dsl line.

Thanks,

Bob Bascom
