Torben Hoffmann

Hi,

I have set up a number of rules that are supposed to assign categories to my
incomming mails so that I can sort my inbox on categories, but they are not
working; I have to use the "Run now" facility of the Rules Wizard to get
them going.

I suspect that there something wrong with the way my logic works.
The general form of my rules are:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
with <something> in the message header
assign it to the <some category> category
and stop processing more rules

I also have some rules where line two is "with me on the to line".
None of these seem to work - the only ones that work are those that mark
mails using the Message related forms.

What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks in advance
/Torben

The rules that checks if the mail uses the Meeting related forms works just
fine.

Hi Torben

I'm curious...have you tried it with the "stop processing more rules" option
removed?

Yes, but in order to avoid double assignment of categories to the incomming
mail I added exceptions to the rules based on "selected properties of
document" (there you can add a list of catogories, so that mails with these
categories does not fire again).

This also does not work.

I'm a bit in the dark here...

It's not something as simple as the individual rules not being enabled is
it? That fits all the facts in your description, and your rules are a
duplicate of the way my (working) rules are setup.

No, had it only been so simple!

All the rules in question are enabled.

All the rules in question are enabled.

It sounds as if your rules are not running, for some reason. What level of
Outlook are you using? I recently installed Outlook 2003 and it has nedw
actions for thr rules, including notifications. At least with this you
could experiment to see if your rules were running.
