Rules and Alerts

My rules only work when my Outlook is opened. For
example, I have a rule setup to forward emails with
specific words in the body to another user. However, when
I am out of the office (i.e., vacation), the rules do not
work. The minute I open Outlook that particular user
receives the emails I specified in my rule. Another user
informed me that his rules work when he is out of the
office. Is there a setting that I need to enable? Does
anyone have any advise?

Thanks.

If you're mailbox in on an Exchange server and you do not download the
messages to a PST, then you can create server-side rules that work whether
or not Outlook is running, since Exchange handles them. However, if you're
not connected to Exchange or your rules are client-side rules, then Outlook
must be running.

Brian,

Thanks for your reply. Our mailboxes are on an Exchange
server. It is only happening to this one user. I have
tested other users and it works fine. What area should I
be focuses on?
