Rules and Alerts in Outlook fails to filter all messages.

Does anyone else have this problem? I have a filter that filters out anything
that has [SPAM] in the subject line. Although it filters about 80%, 20% are
still left in the inbox.

I have tried uninstalling the latest Junk Mail Filter patches, deleted and
created rules.

I haven't tried running outlook with /cleanrules option because I have so
many rules.

Any suggestions?

This happens in both Office Outlook 2003 and 2007. This seems to have failed
about a week ago.

thanks in advance.

Did you add any new rules about a week ago?

Generally, assuming that this rule doesn't have 'and stop processing more
rules' as an action, I'd say that the 20% are also triggering on some other
rule that is causing the message to stay in the inbox.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have not added any new rules. On my other machine, I only have two rules.
1. clear category (default rule)
2. Move messages with [SPAM] or [SPAM S] or [SPAM PS] in subject line to
Junk Mail Folder.

We do not run off of pst files. I have tried to run scanost.exe and waiting
to see if that fixes the problem.

very frustrating that something so simple is not working.

thanks again for your reply.

Make your spam rule first in the list and add 'and stop processing more rules'
as an action.

working too well either. :p

The Clear Category rule, that machine, is it running full time and connected

Running full time and connected to exchange. It's a laptop it's connected
when he's connected to the network.

Then that rule could easily override. Try disabling it on the other machine.

Specifying "[SPAM" should be enough to cover all three of those conditions.
"Junk Mail" is not an Outlook folder, unless you created it. I don't see the
"stop processing more rules" action. Please post the rule EXACTLY as you see
it. Otherwise, it's not the rule you think you're running.
