Rule to delete message after x days

Does anyone know how to create a rule which would delete certain messages
(defined by who they are from) after a certain amount of days. I want to
delete general information messages from certain parties. If have not read
them within a week I might as well skip it and wait until the next message.
I cannot find a rule which would allow this -- I can only delete when
received or on exit.

That's the kind of thing that autoarchive is good for. You could use a rule
to put all such messages in one folder, assuming they have some
distinguishing characteristic. then set the autoarchive settings to clean
out that folder every week or so.
