Remember Lotus?
As easy as 1, 2, 3?
Well, there is some guy around the net saying that this is the way to fix
it.
1.- Set BIOS date to year 2099.
2.- Install Vista
3.- Set date to year 2006 within Vista
By 2099 your version of Vista will no longer be valid.

Can it be so easy, MS?
Carlos

I bet as soon as Vista connects to the internet for updates etc after 31st
May, it will stop working.

Those using Vista by doin thsat two file thing end up with Vista not working
on the first 1/06/07

Yes, November 17th is when Vista will be available on MSDN for download to
subscribers.

Will there be a "Generic OEM" edition, as there was for XP
Professional?

That would be a question for the OEM support forums.

Ok, Tom, where are the "OEM support forums"? Are they
publically-accessible?

All these self appointed cops here announcing that everything is on a
torrent or p2p as it has since the existence of the net ought to apply for
a job with MSFT Legal and get paid for it.

One thing a girl can do is what Nancy Anderson does. She heads up the
anti-piracy squad for MSFT as Deputy general counsel; has millions in stock
options; and has presided over one of the worst corprate legal management
scenarios of the decade with the arrogant and senseless lost of over a
billion dollars.

ahh,
plus more to come-saw a Seattle news article sayin the EU wants definitive
closure by the end of the month; or more fines,

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Microsoft still has not supplied the "complete and
accurate" documentation necessary to comply with a 2004 antitrust order,
European Union regulators said Wednesday.
They warned new fines could be imposed unless the world's biggest software
maker supplies full information by Nov. 23.

Hmm,

I would imagine there would be - system builders who make custom PCs for
people (ie not Dell, Sony etc), will not want to have to buy Retail licences

How about those of us who build our OWN PCs?
Why would WE want to buy a Retail license every time we build a new
machine for ourselves?

What about those of us who build PCs for our friends and family?
Why would WE want to buy a Retail license every time we build them a
new machine?

Is Microsoft going to FORCE us (as well as our friends and families)
to pay the Retail price for its OS?
