rstrui.exe does not work

I am trying to undo a restore from safe mode c: prompt.

I have gotten to the director with rstrui.exe file but
when I try to run this prograqm, it will not execute.

Any ideas, I am trying to undo restore to a previous point
that does not work and unfortunately, the computer will
not run windoes in safe mode.

Pete,

In safe mode with command prompt the command to type at the prompt is:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe then press Enter.

From my reading of your post it looks like you are just typing " rstrui.exe ".
If that is the case I hope the above helps.

unfortunately, I had entered thr complete command you
wrote, as well I changed directories and then found the
file and tried to run it. Neither way worked for me.

Any other ideas?

Hi, Pete,

No idea why it isn't working.
This may seem a bit simplistic but is there a reason why you can't run system restore from the All Programs>Accessories>System Tools?
As I am finding out (only being a computer owner for 6 months or so,) there are times when doing things from Safe Mode is the way to go. Personally speaking, running SR is the ONLY operation I've carried out from Safe Mode, so my suggestions are limited to that.
Sorry if the above idea is a non-starter but good luck anyway!
