RRAS - no Internet

T

Todd V Banks

I am having the problem described in the following KB
article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;310888#appliesto
Cannot access the Internet from clients dialed-in through
RRAS, but can access other domain resources. All others
can access the Internet.

I tried to run the netsh command described in the article,
but get the following error:
"An interface with this name is not registered with the
router."

In the RRAS MMC I do have an "Internal" interface listed
under "Routing Interfaces", but not under "IP Routing /
NAT"

Thoughts ??

Thanks in advance,
Todd B

I should mention that it is a Win2K Server running SP4 and
a Win XP Pro client running SP1.

How are your LAN clients connecting to the Internet? The fix in 310888
only applies if the RRAS server is also the NAT device for the LAN.

The internal interface does not appear in NAT. That is why you need to
use the netsh command. After you run the netsh command, you should see it as
an input interface to NAT.

This has been fixed in Server 2003. The internal interface now apppears
in NAT and you can add it from the MMC.
