Hi there,
Problem...

RRAS server, WIN2k.
Having a NIC connected to local intranet. On this NIC two IP address, one
local Intranet IP and other internet IP is confirm. Tracert from this server
to local machine or internet address works fine...
This RRAS machine has modem..

Our Remote Client, want to connect to RRAS through phone dialing. It
connects fine and local machine are accessible and tracert working fine.,
but tracert to internet address goes to timeout. However it shows that its
going to RRAS server first, and then second hope give time out.

Interestingly when i configure internal as defined in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310888 (ow to Use NAT for Incoming RAS
Connections on the Same RRAS Server) the remote client than can access
internet address but cant access intranet machine.

No static route, nothing else. We are using DHCP.
Can anyone help me .

If you are using a modem, you should not have a public IP configured on
the NIC. Your NIC should only have a private IP.

Set up a demand-dial interface to act as your public interface to
connect to the Internet using the modem. Then it will work with 310888 . The
public and private addresses must be on different interfaces.

Does this means that i need to have Two nics and a modem on server.
Where one nic have private Ip and other public IP?
Can this be done using One Nic and One modem (we are using model for remote
client dial-in).

Yes, it can be done with one NIC and a modem. This is a standard method of
doing it. But you must use a demand-dial interface in RRAS to represent the
connection. When you dial out from this interface (through the modem), this
interface becomes your "public" interface in NAT, and your NIC becomes the
"private" interface. You do not have to use the dial on demand option (that
is optional). But you must have the demand-dial interface to act as your
"public" interface for NAT. A modem is not an interface, only a port.

Does your modem show up as a port in RRAS? If not, go to control panel |
phone and modem options and check its setup.
