RRAS and Radius problem!

B

Bob

Whenever I install/activate Routing and Remote Access on
a server which is already in a domain environment, that
particular server loses its connection to the network.
To regain connection all I need to do is Stop the
service. I am looking for it to just provide Remote
Access security in conjunction with Radius. I do not
need any type of routing whatsoever (at least thats what
I think) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you

Hi Bob,
It sounds like you are running the VPN wizard when you are configuring
RRAS. This wizard was intended for systems with 2 network cards. Internal
and External. When the wizard is ran, it creates packet filters on the
external interface that will not allow any connections BUT VPN connections.

What I think is happening is you only have one NIC, so when you run the
wizard all the packet filters are getting applied to that NIC. Hence, you
loose the connection to the domain and everything else. You need to
disable\unconfigure RRAS then reconfigure it using this article:

Oh ya.. You are routing. The VPN Interface is a different interface,
although not physical, but in anycase that is considered routing.

Hope this Helps,
