RPC service terminates and reboots PC!

Help!

My nice new XP machine comes up with a serious error when
connected to the internet, as shown in Event viewer below:

The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated

I've searched the KB but can't find anything relevant. The
browser is IE6.

All help / pointers much appreciated as this is causing me
much grief.

You are most likely infected with a virus.



To stop the rebooting/shutdowns, right click on the task bar, choose task
manager, processes tab, look for msblast.exe. Highlight it and click end
process. Then turn on the xp firewall. Do this as quickly as you can once
the desktop comes up. Then visit the sites below for the removal and patch
info.

Also make sure to follow the links to the Microsoft pages for the patch or

you got the msblaster or luvsans virus. Read Purplehaz instructions titled
"Re: System Shutdown" he explains it very well.
