Hi all,
A just installed Win 2000 Pro machine is getting RPC service start errors on
boot up. The service simply doesn't start leaving timeout errors in the
System Log, along with a bunch of errors of dependent services failing
(quite expectedly). Then, if I go to Services and Start RPC manually - it
starts okay, and so do the other services that failed during the load. The
error message mentions timeout of 30000 ms.

Any ideas on the cause of the problem? The error code is 7009 - search on MS
KBase didn't bring relevant articles :(.

I'd be grateful for any pointers, tips, etc

Thank you!
Alex A

RPC must be set for Automatic start. Did you alter its original setting?

Nope, it's Auto as it was.

It seems to attempt to start but fails for some reason. HOwever, starts
later Manually. Puzzling...

Have you been browsing on the internet yet? The reason I ask is
because this service is started by scvhost.exe, which has been a
very popular target by some viruses.
