RPC error in IE6.0 under Win XP Home

Hi,

I have been asked by a friend to install an email/browser
conection on her new laptop, running XP home and IE6. All
went well until started browsing, after 2-3 minutes, we
get the error " Remote Procedure Call" RPC service
terminated unexpectedly, windows needs to restart in 60
seconds. This happens every time IE6 is browsing, and
happens both on her dial up and my broadband connection.
Can anyone please suggest why this happens, and is there a
fix ?....Thanks

It appears that you both have a virus. I can't be of much help , except to
tell you to search this Newsgroup and others for others with the same virus
and use the same instructions they received ,to solve the issue.
I'm sure others with more experience will answer and assist you. Just
thought you might like to know, while waiting for assistance.

Hi Mad Max,

Thanks for the info, however the laptop is brand new from
a trusted retailer, never been connected to the web before
today. Cant see where a virus would have got in, but you
never know :-)
