RPC DENIAL OF SERVICE

I have a windows 2000 server box, I think I've been hit
and I am now unable to communicate with my AD snapins, I
keep on getting an error stating "Unable to communicate
with the global catalogue" I ran the latest service packs
but that does not help. Microsoft claims if you run the
service pack it should solve the problem but it ain't
PLEASE HELP
