i had attempted to install roxio easy cd creator 5 platinum on my computer but decided to uninstall it when i noticed that you have to download the patch. after i uninstalled it the computer no longer recognizes the dvd-rom or the cd/rw drives. how do i get them back? i tried uninstalling the drives and then reinstalling them. if you have any ideas on how to fix this problem PLEASE send me an E-Mail (the more detailed the better, it's for my parents) to (e-mail address removed) any help is appreciated. thanks

So, you were afraid to get the patch because you have an illegal copy of CD
Creator. You then screwed up your system in trying to remove it. You will
not get any sympathy, or help, from me!

That leaves some 'orphaned' entries in the registry. To tidy up, get a
registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
