Please help. The program installed succesfully, however, I get a black
screen all the time and I am unable to see anyhting. Error message: Mixer is
null and another error 80040154.
I installed it at work and it works perfectly.
Solutions please
You may not like my solution, but I got my EMC8 about a week and a half ago. I
installed it, and a number of problems immediately, and I mean immediately
exhibited themselves. I am very good with software/hardware issues, and I
played with this for about a couple of hours. In the mean time, I accessed the
forums and FAQs on Roxio's site to no avail. This software rendered my PC
useless. I let it stay in that condition for one full day while I awaited a
response from Roxio. After a day, I uninstalled EMC8. My PC went back to
completely functional. When the response from Roxio was not forthcoming,I sent
the software back, and got a full refund from Amazon. com. ...God Bless Amazon.
That is my solution! Send this software back while you have a chance. Save
yourself from this poorly constructed hodge-podge set of code.
What to buy? I don't know... I have tried Nero, and it works on my PC just
fine. Nero seems to destabilize after a while though. But Nero makes an
uninstall tool that removes ALL the registry entries and program artifacts so
that one can do a completely fresh install. After this, Nero works okay for a
while.
I tried NTI a while back. I just didn't care for the interface all that much.
But the software seemed stable if not a little basic.
....If you've ever noticed the reviews of these types of software, the ratings
are usually either very low or very high. This could be the result of review
fudging. More realistically, the reviews probably are this way because the
software will either work on your system or not. I really think that Roxio runs
into incompatibilities with other softwares or hardware that is existant on any
PC. In my case, I read that their was a huge incompatibility between EMC8 and
PC-Cillin AV. I have PC-Cillin. When I went to the forums and FAQs, Roxio
offered no solution. So there. Sorry about the book
