Hi

On our windows 2000 Domain Controller we have some rougue registry entries.
located here
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\SAVFMSE\3.0\Server\Components\SpamF
If i look in Regedt32 the folders are grey.
If i look on the properties of the folder components the user has full
permission to all the keys etc.
We need to get rid of these rougue keys as we are having problems installing
other virus software.

Hope you can help regards

Tec

Not sure I can help you regarding Symantec, but I have seen other security
products with special registry keys that have access denied even to
administrators. I guess its something MS have come up with for certain types
of product that must not be copied/deleted from within the OS. You would
probably have to uninstall Symantec, and even that probably would not delete
the key.

We have other entries in the registry too not just symantec.
We have tried uninstalling it properly etc etc
Problem is it needs removing as we cant install any other virus software on
it as it maxes the CPU. Any ideas how we can do this

Regards

There are instructions on Symantec's site to manually remove their products.
