Root Hints - Forwarders

I have a small AD domain (win2003) I have set up all clients dns to point to
the AD DNS servers. On my larger network is a large dns server. I have told
my DNS servers to forward all dns requests to the larger dns server,

Everything works ok but something has confused me. I looked into the Root
hints tab and it has a list of all the main dns servers. I tried to remove
root hints but everytime I reboot they come back.

How should I stop my small dns server from using root hints as I want all
request to go through my larger dns server.

any help would be much appreicated

On the Forwarders tab, there is a checkbox to not use recursion. Check this
box, and it will not use the root-hints iteration. In short, do not delete
the root-hints, use the checkbox in the forwarders tab. hth
