Root DC Lost

For Various reasons the root DC is No more,. But was a Semi Graceful shut
down. Did a rebuild ans restored system State then ran DCpromo. I have/had
successfully transferred the six roles (RID, PDC, Schema, Infrastructure,
Naming Master and Global Cat) to Other DCs. As well as AD and Terminal
Licensing.

But, Still on all the current DCs the old one shows in the registry Under
NTDS as as Src Root Domain Srv, Src Config NC Srv, Etc., And under
LicenseService.

Using ADSIedit, I find no mention of the old Root.

I need to rebuild a machine with the same name as the old Root (for
Certifcate Server restore) But do not want this machine to be current Root.
Also I assume these erronous entries are going to come back and haunt me.

So any Documents on this? Any suggestions?

Thanks PT, But Active Directory "IS" Clean. It is the registry Entries on
the Two current DCs that concern me.
Should I just edit the entries to the New Root Server? Or will that create
problems?
I am currently installing a machine to test on. But an Authoritive response
could save me the time.

Ok, created my test Server and after DCpromo it shows the Current Root as
it's Root. So those entries appear to just point to where the AD was copied
from.
So Yes I was just scaring myself................Incase anyone was following
this.
