How can I add 0's in front of a columb of cells with the format as
numbers...? I am trying to add get all the numbers in column A to have 10
digits each. If I enter it manually, I can do it by changing the column
format to "text" and then adding the 0's in front manually. However I have
over 6 thousand entries here. so I am trying to find an easier way to do
this. Any help would be appreshiated. Thanks. Below is an image for a
visual.

The cell format is set to "general", but setting it to "text" is the only
way I know of to force excel to show the 00's in front of the numbers... :)
If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know.

Much obliged,
Tony

I'm sorry, I don't see a user defined... I see custom... but it gives me a
list of optioins, I can't type anything in. Can you please be a bit more
specific on the process... thanks

Tony

Hi Tony,

sorry for confusing you. Custom is the correct option. In the textbox
above the list of options you can just enter ten '0'.

Here's some detailed steps to ease you-in
to implement what Frank suggested.

Select the column where the 6000 numbers currently are
(Click on the column header to select)

Click Format > Cells > Number tab

Choose "Column" under "Category:"

In the box for "Type:",
put: 0000000000
(i.e. 10 zeros - since you want 10 digits)

Click OK
