I need to create a report where the user will enter a date on a form. Then on
the report it will start with the month that they entered and follow through
for the rest of the months. So if they enter in 06/01/07-06/19/07 the data
will show as follows:

Item Desc Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May

How would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance

To get the report you want, the report needs to be based on a crosstab
query. Research what crosstab queries are and how to create them.

I've been reading on crosstab queries. So if I do this type of query it will
display the data on the report based on the date I put in. So if put in a
date of 6/1/06 it will start w/ the heading month of June or if I put in
11/01/06 it will start with November and so on? I just want to make sure this
will work. I'm still looking into the crosstab and still understanding them.

thanks!

Not quite! You have records of items and dates. Your report needs to be
based on a query so you can set the criteria for dates that limits the
records the query returns to only the dates you set in the criteria. The
query needs to be a crosstab query to list the items in rows and the dates
in columns. When you create the crosstab query you will specify that items
go in rows and dates go in columns. The crosstab query DOES NOT
automatically increment the dates as you show in your original post. You
need to set that up in the design of the query. Again, when you input a
date, all you are doing is setting the criteria of the query.
