rod speed help changing drive

I've copied the contents of c drive to d drive via drive image. I altered
the jumpers to make the original slave the master, and swapped the original
for the new slave. Unfortunately, on startup it's telling me that there's a
non system disk - to take it out and press key etc'. Any ideas?
cheers

If all you want to do is talk to Rod, why not just email him? Then
you can top post in private.

Its crucial to get the sequence right when copying XP with DI.

You should never let XP see both the original and the
copy on the initial boot after the copy has been done.

In other words you should copy the drive using DI, and
then not let the system boot up on the original drive.
As soon as the copy has happened, you should turn the
system off and have only the copy visible at boot time,
with the jumper changed to master and the original
drive not even being plugged into the ribbon cable
and power at all.

Once you have booted off the copy, you should be able to
shutdown, plug the original drive in again with it now jumpered
as slave, and be able to do what you like to the original drive.

Try it again using that exact sequence.

Is the drive set active?

Laugh out loud. You can get these spelt out using google.

Yeah, in the Victorian era england, you used to be able to
visit Bedlam on weekends and get a bit of light amusement
poking a stick at the loonys chained to the wall.

We get to do it from the comfort of our homes, and the risk
of getting bitten by a rabid loon is completely elimated too.

Aint technology grand ?

Since this is the anal-retentive usenet, I feel obliged to add this...

first: you should always leave enough of the post you are answering so
that folks can see what you are talking about..

and secondly: That cuisine is spelled 'nouveau'

)

Spent the day up sht creek! Whilst copying drives I managed to get both
saying - invalid disk etc etc. Ended up loading a new xp onto new hd and now
I've got two disks with info i need, butI'm not sure hpow to acess it. If i
copy either one to the new hd I may corrupt the new version of xp I've put
on. Any suggestions other than smashing up my macvhine!

Presumably without a paddle!

You mean while actually doing the copy, or on the boot after the copy ?

Not really feasible to answer succinctly
until you answer that question above.

This is 'middle posting' with some trimming, mainly in rhinestone with a
pretty edging of sequins. You can't really see it properly in this light,
but wow!
Presumably without a paddle!

Hi Rod, after copying and trying to reboot - tried the copied drive and then
in desperation the original
