Roaming profiles

I am trying to set up a peer network (no domain server).
There are only three computers all able to see and access
everything on the network. I have set up ROAMING USER
PROFILES and directed them to a shared location on one of
the computers.
--THE PROPLEM--
I logon to machine1 all is good I logoff
I logon to machine2 all is good I logoff
I log back on to machine1 and the XP theme is gone
shortcuts are missing in the recent programs section of
the START menu and I am unable to move things to the
recycle bin (can delete by pressing DEL key). I logoff.
I log back on to machine2 all is still good. Create a
shortcut on the desktop and logout.
Log on to machine1 new shortcut showa up but everything
else is still wrong.

Haven't attepmted to use machine3 figure I need to get
the first right.

All machine are running XP Pro.
I've tried to force the machines to use the roaming
profile with the Policy to Delete cached profile on
logout but still no good.
The system is slow at login but it seems to find the
profile it just doesn't seem to load all of the settings.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

hang on if your not in a domain and have no DC hwo are you
using romaing profiles yes you can still set romaing
profiles but i dont understand becuase in a Domain on the
DC you would set the path to the profile for each account
now where did u set this if u have no domain beacuse every
time u login autehntication takes place at local level
hence evry time u log off then on again it loads your
local user account with local profile proereties

hmm well in theory it should work then, i have had probs
with roaming profile on XP even in a domain environment
where users suddenly lose there profiles and then i cant
recover them afterwards so im not suprised about your
profile problem when it comes to XP i take it u have tried
the knowldege base also sounds bit like as if u have a
mandatory profile but then u owuldnt be bale to delte
anyhting off the desktop i think plaus your ntuser.dat
file would have .man extension

I did find alot of info on the KB but must of it refered
to creating the profile. Also your assumption regarding
the mandatory profile is half correct- in attempt to try
anything I did create a .man file but it also failed in
the same manner.
What really strikes me as odd is that when I login to the
computer that actually has the profiles stored on it I get
the messed up version of the desktop but if I log out and
use one of the remote computers it looks fine.
Do you know of any other site that might be able to help?
