RIS'd Machine Won't join Domain

Hi there,

Windows 2k3 Server (no service pack) acting as the DHCP server with the RIS
service running on it.

I have a pretty standard .sif file created of which the [Identification]
section is as follows.

[identification]
JoinDomain=%MACHINEDOMAIN%
DoOldStyleDomainJoin=Yes

I boot a computer off of the network and get to the ris setup screen, I log
in (I am an admin). I specify the computer name I want. RIS then installs
windows. After the reboot, it loads the "Welcome to windows" page.

If I look at the setuperr.log file it tells me that it was unable to join
the domain. The computer account got created in Active Directory, so how come
it couldn't join the domain. I have the proper nic drivers installed and in
the right place (i386) I have restarted the RIS services.

The other odd thing is this. Some computer join fine, others do not. Also, I
just ris'd a computer this morning and it didnt join. So I deleted its
computer account that got created and tried RISing it again. This time it did
join the domain.

I'm a little confused. Please help me solve this problem.

Hiya,
This is apparently a known bug with Windows Server 2003. ( i've just
discovered on an MS course). This would work fine on Win2k Server using RIS,
i do it for work and home with no issues.

Not sure if resolved in SP1 or noted on Technet.

Sorry, it's possibly not the answer you were after.
