Right-Click Share the INbox

K

KePaHa

Using OL 2007, sp1 on Win XP sp2.

It seems if I right-click Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes, Journal, I get a
menu command for "Share 'Folder Name'". But if I right-click the Inbox, I
have to choose "Change Sharing Permissions."

I am writing some internal training materials, and it would be nice if the
same method could be referenced for all standard folders. Am I missing
something? Or is the Sharing Invitation functionality not available for the
Inbox?

Thank you.

I don't believe you can use the sharing invitation for any message folder -
only the "special" folders: Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Journal, and Tasks

You can still set permissions on the message folders. Check here for an
example of instructions from someone else's write-up of setting the
permissions:
http://www.cit.cornell.edu/email/outlook/del-share-mail.html

Users with permissions can then select File | Open... | Other User's Folder
to see that folder's contents. They can also add the mailbox to which they
were granted the appropriate permissions to their Outlook profile if they
right-click theor top-level mailbox folder (Mailbox - Xxxxx Xxxxxxx) |
select Properties for .... | select the Advanced... button | select the
Advanced tab | Add... - they can enter the person's name as it appears in
the Address List.
