Hi,
I've just installed XP. When I right click on a file or folder and view
properties there's no Security tab. Can someone please point me in the right
direction to alter this, cos I can't find it?
TIA

Tim

Tim; Do you have FAT32 or NTFS? If FAT32 you will not have Security tab.

Hi Tim,

I would concur... the following KB article should help.

308418 HOW TO: Set, View, Change, or Remove File and Folder Permissions in

Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab, and then uncheck the Use Simple File
Sharing (Recommended) check box to disable Simple File
Sharing

To check the formatting on your disk, open up Computer
Management from Administrative tools, expand the Storage
section and select Disk Management. This will list your
partitions and the type of file system each one has. This
link explains how to convert to NTFS if the partition is
currently formatted as FAT:

I found the answer. If anyone's interested:

Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use
Simple File Sharing.

Got it from this very useful site:
