Right Click Open With Registry Setting

After having some problems with right clicking on certain filetypes I was
advised to look at a site which helped my locate the source of the problem
which was the context menu handlers registry settings located at
HKCR/*/ShellEx/ContextMenuHandlers.

After deleting the settings for groups right clicking on any file type
seemed to work with only an approximate 1 second lag between the click and
the menu showing up. But then the problem came back again. This time I
deleted more of the settings until only the OpenWith setting remained. Now
having deleted all the settings (but making a backup first (actually
several), of course) my right clicks are instant. It's almost as if the
context menu appears an instant before I click fast. But the option to open a
file with "Open With..." is now gone, which I fully expected after deleting
its registry setting.

Now what I want to know is how can I restore the open with setting without
bringing the lag back with it? I don't mind losing the other program specific
context handlers (in fact it's good they're gone, they were clogging up the
menu) but if I lose them then I will need the open with option.

I'm thinking that maybe there is a clean fresh setting I could add to the
registry to restore the option while not lagging the right clicks?

Thanks!

To restore the Open with :
HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\
Create a new key, name it anything and set its default to :
{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}

Ermm... Unfortunately adding that key only made the right click lag issue
come back. I'm beginning to oddly enough think that this problem has to do
with something that handles the Open With option. I'm not sure what program
may have fiddled with this, if any, but I've been trying to disable any such
options in any program I can find that may be the cause of this problem.

But I will copy that registry key value for once a solution is found.

Thanks anyway :D

Try clearing Open with entries :

Yes, that great little tool worked. It lagged at first... but then it
started working as fast as it did with Open With disabled.

Thanks very much for your help Ayush!!!

You are welcome Vipralion.
