Right click in windows explorer causes it to close

I have a long standing problem that I'm looking for some help with - namely
when I right click on a folder in Windows Explorer eventually I get a message
that "Windows Explorer" or "My Documents" or whatever folder I'm looking at
etc. has stopped responding. What I'm trying to do is get to the properties
tab to enable file sharing over a home network. All other methods I can think
of to get to the properties menu or share folders results in the same
outcome. I've searched the MS knowledge base and have found some distantly
related issues with right click performance (819101 & 819946) but neither of
the suggested fixes have worked for me.
Also I've tried various keyboard and mouse short cuts to bring up the
properties menu without right clicking but to no avail. Also of note is that
if you select a folder with left click and then try to click on the file drop
down menu - the same hang happens.
I've also done complete virus, trojan and spyware scans and used various
registry cleaning tools to see if that fixes the problem.

very Ramesh,
Thanks for all the links. Using ShellExView (what a great tool this is) I
quickly narrowed it down to Ghostbusters from Anity Labs. Disabling and
subsequently uninstalling this has fixed the problem entirely.

Spot on advice - which I've now noticed you've given a number of times to
various users. Many thanks - much appreciated.

You're welcome Adrian.
Glad you got this resolved.
