Thanks, Kelly and Ramesh--you should not be up so late!

Cross my heart and hope to die, I did try to find my own answer through
Google Search, help and some of the more famous troubleshooting sites. But
just can't seem to find it and getting exasperated.

I would like to edit the right click context menu. Not just Send to etc. but
the whole thing. I have looked at the offending programs and they don't
contain an option allowing me to get them off the menu. I have an entire
raft of programs that offer themselves when I right click.

If anyone can advise re the appropriate registry key, I would be grateful.

I did have the last answer given on this group saved but had to reformat and
reinstall--everything gone. Can't seem to "find" my post using Google.

Sorry for the repeat.

They will be in a shellex\contextmenuhandlers subkey (as a subkey for
each of them) - either
of an individual file type, for which you may have to start with an
extension say .xyz at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xyz
and note the Default in the right pane - say xyzfile, then look in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\xyzfile\shellex

or in the 'general' entry
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex
I uggest in each case that you highlight the shellex and File - Export
so you could easily put things back if you overdo it

Thank you, Alex. Your words of warning came too late. I have overdone it a
bit and am now merrily researching putting it back together (I don't know
what on earth I will actually do with my computer after I have stopped
breaking and fixing it!). I have b******* up the "New" option and now in
explorerer, it will not trigger the New Wizard. Tried a trick from JSI and
it works in Power Desk but not explorer. If you have any clues, please
advise. I am finding lots of information on this, just none that works so
far!

In that case use System restore and go back a day or three, to a day
before you started experimenting. that will put things back, but is an
overkill compared with the export of just the relevant piece of registry
