The install is completed and the PC needs to reboot for the fresh
installation of Vista to finish installing and when the reboot is complete
the pc cannot start the Vista OS when I reconnected to my XP drive (c:/) I
linked the Vista drive (d:/) to see what data had installed and it looks as
if the Vista OS installed correctly but wont start so I tried to
reinstall/Repair and had no luck. Anyone have any suggestions on tring to get
the Vista OS to boot? I downloaded and copied the .iso files for RC1 from
Microsoft and that was painless but I just dont get why it wont complete at
the final reboot to Vista.

what happens when you try to boot? if you get a screen like an old nintendo
or some shit its likely the sme video card problem (nvidia or ati) that many
of us are having.

The XP OS is on C: the Vista OS is on D: I changed the boot sequence to D: to
install vista on a freshly formated 250 GB Hardrive with no data then it went
throught the process of the install and wont finish booting Vista after it
restarts. So I unpluged the C: drive and changed the jumper on D: to master
and it still wont startup so I reloaded it on the D: drive after I formatted
it erasing the original download, with unpluging the C: drive making the D:
the only Drive it was then the C: drive so then I changed the Sequence to
boot back from C: (D:) and Vista is the only thing on it and still no luck. I
hope this helps.

Long story short I have tried arranging the drives from master to slave and
from C: to D: drives just to get to the command screen on Vista and the
command screen shows up and the c:\ and d:\ directories are present but will
not initiate startup.

Right now the drive I am using is my XP C: drive and the Vista D: is
disconnected as I cannot get to the Internet or even Logon on Vista.

How far into the install does it get?
I had the same problem, and it loaded into a black screen, with the mouse
and the RC1 info in the bottom right. I looked around on the disk, as well
(using notepad loaded from the install DVD) and it looked fine. people have
said that doing a clean install works in this case, but I haven't tried it.
I'm running RC1 on another computer, so beta 2 is fine for me right now.
